»smalltown’berta« Lager Relaunch
The goal was to create the “least craft” beer in Alberta — a crisp, no-nonsense lager designed to move beyond the craft bubble and reach the broader Canadian market. This is the “Blue Collar Champagne” for the 403, the 780, and every gravel road in between.
The Vision: “The Highway Standard” The visual identity draws direct inspiration from the iconic Alberta License Plate. We leaned into the “Wild Rose Country” aesthetic to create instant regional recognition and a sense of institutional reliability.
By white-labelling the product, we moved away from the typical brewery storytelling and toward a “Generic-Chic” look. It’s a design that feels like a permanent fixture of the provincial landscape — as much a part of Alberta as a dusty GMC Sierra or a weekend at the lake.
We didn’t market a flavor profile; we marketed a lifestyle. By stripping away the complex imagery of the craft scene, we created a “Gateway Can” that bridges the gap between the domestic die-hard and the craft enthusiast.
