The Venture: Snake Lake Brewing Co. stepped into new territory by licensing authentic 100% Tequila Blanco straight from Mexico to launch a premium, ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktail brand packaged in Alberta. While the Canadian RTD market is highly competitive, premium tequila-based cocktails represent a fresh frontier. The challenge was to build a brand completely from scratch that honours its international heritage while celebrating local Alberta craft.

The Explorer’s Canvas

The Identity: Named after the Spanish word for “bay” — evoking the sweeping, inward curve of a coastline — Bahía is built around the brand archetype of “The Explorer.” It targets the craft enthusiast searching for freedom, independence, and an adventurous shift from their daily routine.

The Palette: A sun-baked, sophisticated mix of warm earth tones and natural textures that creates an upscale, authentic destination feel.

The Typography: Confident, bold, and unapologetic headline fonts that establish immediate shelf presence and look grounded in utility and grit.

The Layout & Iconography: Built like a tactile travel diary. Instead of traditional corporate labels, each product in the lineup is identified by a custom, vintage-inspired passport stamp. The brand debuts with the Tequila Paloma Stamp, establishing a flexible visual system where future flavour releases introduce new destination markers to the canvas.

Local Craft, Global Spirit

The Strategy: The brand narrative bridges a cultural gap: delivering a taste of paradise directly to a Canadian backyard while fiercely supporting local Alberta business. To deepen consumer engagement, the passport stamp identity transitions directly into physical and digital marketing initiatives. Consumers are invited to become “loyalty passport collectors,” gathering stamps with each new product release and community activation, transforming a simple beverage choice into a shared journey of discovery.

To launch the brand into the Canadian market, the physical packaging assets were translated into a comprehensive digital home at bahiacocktails.ca. The website was built from the ground up to echo the adventurous, premium aesthetic of the brand, utilizing clean navigation, high-impact product showcases, and responsive design to ensure a seamless desktop-to-mobile journey for the user.
